Jeonju City Library Resumes Operation of Reference and Reading Rooms
11 Libraries Excluding Samcheon Library Under Remodeling
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Jeonju City Library in Jeonbuk has decided to open its reference rooms and reading rooms while limiting seating capacity in compliance with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
On the 3rd, the city library announced that it will expand operations by opening the reference rooms and reading rooms (study rooms) of 11 libraries, excluding Samcheon Library, which is undergoing remodeling.
Until now, libraries in the Jeonju area have only provided book lending and return services since May to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The 11 city libraries have decided to operate reading seats at less than 50% of total seating capacity, considering the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Additionally, users must strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks when entering the library, temperature checks, filling out visitor logs, hand sanitization, and maintaining distance between users.
Operating hours are ▲Reference rooms: weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; ▲Reading rooms: weekdays 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and legal holidays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with closure days remaining unchanged.
Furthermore, the city plans to gradually expand facility operations of 127 public and private small libraries in the Jeonju area.
