View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his 20s who damaged an anti-discrimination subway advertisement posted by LGBTQ+ rights organizations was apprehended by the police.
On the 3rd, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced that they are investigating a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on suspicion of property damage after taking him in for questioning.
Mr. A is accused of damaging a large advertisement for the "2020 International Day Against Homophobia Joint Action" posted at Sinchon Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 on the 2nd. During the police investigation, he reportedly stated that he tore the advertisement because he disliked LGBTQ+ people.

The advertisement was posted by LGBTQ+ rights organizations such as "Rainbow Action Against LGBTQ+ Discrimination" (Mujigae Haengdong). The billboard featured a phrase made by connecting photos of campaign participants' faces, reading "LGBTQ+ people are part of your everyday life." This advertisement, part of a collaborative project with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, was unveiled on the 31st of last month and was scheduled to be displayed throughout August.
