'Mid·Meok' Gourmet 494... Galleria Department Store Launches 5 New Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Galleria Department Store announced on the 3rd that its premium food private brand (PB) ‘Gourmet 494’ launched five new products on the 31st of last month, including Chinese Jajang, handmade jam, and stick-type sesame and perilla oils.
‘Gourmet 494 Chinese Jajang’ was created by adding recipes from famous luxury hotel Chinese restaurants. It was made using a recipe jointly developed with the head chef of ‘Dowon,’ a prestigious Chinese restaurant with a 44-year tradition, capturing the authentic taste of traditional Chinese Jajang. Fresh beef, shrimp, and squid were added to enhance the flavor.
The ‘handmade jam’ is a premium handmade jam that blends carefully selected raw materials by Galleria to preserve the original taste and aroma of the ingredients. It consists of four types: blueberry jam, rose strawberry jam, pineapple yuzu jam, and dandelion milk jam. Domestic organic blueberries, strawberries certified by the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), yuzu, and other ingredients were sliced without mashing to maintain the natural texture of the fruit.
The ‘Korean beef hamburger steak,’ which preserves the original taste of the ingredients, was made using 65% domestic Korean beef. The meat was thinly sliced to enhance texture, and natural vegetables were used for flavor instead of artificial sweeteners. Additionally, a newly developed BBQ special sauce was added to provide a richer flavor.
Two new home meal replacement (HMR) products with enhanced convenience were also introduced. The steady-selling Gourmet 494 sesame and perilla oils were newly released in a stick-type format to improve convenience, thanks to customer response. Unlike the existing product, it is packaged in a single-use pouch for easy use.
A new grilled salmon product was also launched. It is contained in a special aluminum container that allows for direct cooking in a microwave or oven without additional preparation. It was made using patented deodorization technology and an overheating steam method.
Meanwhile, Galleria Gourmet 494 PB’s cumulative sales have increased by 48% year-on-year through July this year. The product strength was enhanced through continuous new product launches reflecting trends, and the increase in demand for premium foods and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic have boosted HMR demand.
