Excessive sodium intake is a major cause of high blood pressure and other chronic diseases, making sodium intake management in daily life more important than ever in modern society.
Accordingly, the Public Health Center is promoting a project that lends Bluetooth salinometers to households or meal-providing institutions so they can manage sodium intake on their own, linked with the Health Age app (APP) to adjust the sodium level of daily checked diets.
The Public Health Center monitors sodium intake immediately using the app (APP) on a weekly basis for individuals and monthly for institutions, providing customized diets and materials to help maintain appropriate sodium levels.
A district official said, “Previously, sodium levels checked with salinometers were manually recorded and consultations were received by visiting the Public Health Center. Now, with mobile app linkage, immediate non-face-to-face consultations are possible, making sodium diet management more convenient.”
Bluetooth salinometer rentals are available by phone reservation for individuals and by email application to the person in charge for institutions, and rental is possible after understanding how to use the salinometer.
The rental period is 5 weeks for individuals and 4 months for institutions. Residents and institutions wishing to participate can contact the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center Health Management Division.

Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “Through this project, households are expected to practice low-sodium diets and meal service institutions to make efforts to improve cooking. We will actively strive to help residents live healthier lives more comfortably through this community-based health management project.”
