Surge in Sales of Compact Massagers Amid 'Jipkok' and 'Homecance' Trends
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] It has been revealed that the demand for compact massagers that can be used comfortably at home has been increasing due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 1st, Cozyma announced that the sales of its representative compact massager, the "Twister," significantly increased in the first half of this year. The Twister, launched in August last year, was sold 2.5 times more from January to May this year compared to the five months until December. Additionally, on home shopping channels, it proved its popularity by selling out 14 times out of a total of 16 live broadcasts.
This trend is interpreted as a clear shift towards enjoying leisure at home while managing health and immunity, driven by the untact (contactless) culture due to COVID-19 and the rising trend of "self-medication" focusing on health. In fact, according to a survey conducted by the mobile survey company Open Survey targeting 1,000 men and women in Korea, 43.3% of respondents purchased a massager in the first half of this year, an increase of 5.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
The Cozyma Twister is designed in a U-shape suitable for shoulder massage and can be used by adjusting pressure on desired areas such as the shoulders, abdomen, and calves. In particular, six ergonomic massage balls provide more delicate and powerful massage by pressing the trapezius muscle with three automatic modes moving forward, backward, and bidirectionally. The massage speed can be adjusted in two stages, and the heating function warms the massage area.
The Twister also enhances user convenience. It can be used wirelessly after charging without the hassle of connecting the power cord each time, and it features an integrated remote control near the handle for easy operation. Additionally, it has a timer function that automatically turns off the power after 15 minutes for safe use, and the massage cuff that touches the skin is detachable with a zipper for more hygienic use.

Kim Kyungho, Head of Marketing at Cozyma, said, "As the number of people staying at home increases and home healthcare expands, the Cozyma Twister, which allows easy health care at home, continues to gain popularity. Especially, compact massagers are less expensive and take up less space than massage chairs, leading to higher repurchase rates and more purchases as gifts for acquaintances."
