View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 31st that Jo Juhyun, head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group for Small and Medium Enterprises, has been appointed as the Director of the Small Business Policy Office.
Director Jo was born in 1969 (age 51) and graduated from Daeseong High School in Daejeon and the Department of Diplomacy at Seoul National University. He earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the same university's graduate school. He also completed doctoral coursework in Economics at the University of Delaware in the United States.
Director Jo entered public service in 1995 after passing the 38th Administrative Examination and has worked for 25 years at the Small and Medium Business Administration and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. As an expert in small business and research and development (R&D), he has served as Director of Small Business Policy, Director of Technology Talent Policy, and head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group for SMEs.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups promoted the head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group, who has expertise in the field, to resolve the management difficulties faced by small business owners due to COVID-19 and to promote the smartization and digitalization of small businesses. Director Jo is recognized for his modest personality, meticulous and detailed work handling, and responsible work attitude.
An official from the Ministry said, "He is the right person to lead the smartization and digitalization of the small business sector and to implement field-centered policies with stability," adding, "This personnel appointment aims to fundamentally enhance the competitiveness of small business owners."

Meanwhile, the Ministry appointed Director Kim Ilho as the new head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group for SMEs. Director Kim previously served as Director of the Small Business Policy Bureau during the Small and Medium Business Administration era and returned to the Ministry this month after completing a dispatch assignment in Shaanxi Province, China.
