Kim Eo-jun "Han Dong-hoon Brawl? It Was Just a Tangle and Fall... Korean Journalists Are Really Biased"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Amid ongoing media reports that Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jeong Jin-ung, who is investigating the attempted coercion allegations involving a former Channel A reporter, used physical force against Prosecutor General Han Dong-hoon during a search and seizure, broadcaster Kim Eo-jun criticized, saying, "Korean journalists are really biased."
On the 30th, Kim said on his tbs radio show "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory," "If former Minister Cho Kuk had fallen during a scuffle trying not to lose something during a search and seizure, would the media report it the same way? Cho would have been criticized to pieces," expressing his view.
He continued, "If they were executing a legitimate warrant and (former Minister Cho) struggled to keep from losing something, no one would have sided with him," adding, "But now both sides' positions are being reported very fairly, in equal proportions. Journalists are really biased."
He further pointed out, "(Korean journalists) probably have never done this to anyone else. Legal beat reporters should not report like this."
Regarding media reports that Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jeong and Prosecutor General Han had a physical clash during the search and seizure, he claimed, "The media calls it a fistfight, but one side was trying to take away a cellphone USIM chip, and the other side was trying not to lose it, so they got tangled and fell. That's all there is to it."
Earlier, on the morning of the 29th at around 10:30 a.m., the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office executed a search warrant on Prosecutor General Han's cellphone USIM chip at the Legal Research and Training Institute's Yongin branch office.
However, there were claims that a physical clash occurred during the execution of the search warrant on Prosecutor General Han's cellphone USIM.
It is known that a scuffle broke out while Prosecutor General Han was unlocking his cellphone password to call his lawyer.
Han's side claimed that while he was calling his lawyer, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jeong suddenly knocked Han down and climbed on top of him, committing abuse of authority (독직폭행).
Abuse of authority refers to a person performing duties related to arrest or prosecution assaulting a suspect during the investigation process.

On the other hand, the Central District Prosecutors' Office rebutted, saying there were suspicious circumstances suggesting Prosecutor General Han was attempting to delete information stored on the cellphone, so they tried to restrain him.
