Iksan City Enters 24-Hour Emergency Duty in Preparation for Heavy Rainfall
Strengthening Damage Assessment and Prevention Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Iksan City, Jeonbuk, has entered 24-hour emergency duty to strengthen damage prevention activities following the issuance of a heavy rain warning in the region.
On the 30th, Mayor Jeong Heon-yul held an emergency countermeasure meeting attended by Vice Mayor Yoo Hee-sook and heads of 13 collaborative departments to check the damage situation and discuss prevention measures in response to the heavy rain warning.
Mayor Jeong instructed each department to dispatch comprehensive administrative officers to eup, myeon, and dong areas to control access to regions at risk of casualties, strengthen damage prevention activities, and actively promote behavioral guidelines in case of heavy rain.
He also ordered enhanced monitoring activities of disaster-prone areas and crop damage situations, and instructed the person in charge of large construction sites to implement measures to prevent overturning of protective screens and tower cranes within the construction sites.
As the heavy rain warning took effect at 6:50 a.m. that day, 191 city employees began emergency level 2 duty. Previously, since the issuance of a heavy rain advisory on the 28th, the city had maintained a 24-hour situation and conducted emergency level 1 duty to prepare for heavy rain.

Mayor Jeong Heon-yul stated, “All employees must familiarize themselves with the crisis management manual for crops, large construction sites, and disaster-vulnerable facilities, maintain vigilance without letting their guard down, and prepare thoroughly,” adding, “We will mobilize all administrative power to minimize damage to citizens’ precious lives and property.”
