'September Release' Volvo New S90 Surpasses 1,000 Pre-Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Volvo Cars Korea announced on the 30th that the pre-order volume for the new flagship sedan, the new S90, set to be released in September, surpassed 1,000 units in just 16 days. This result exceeds the performance of the new S60 launched last year.
Iman Sik, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Volvo Cars Korea, said, "This pre-order achievement reflects customers' expectations for new luxury in the domestic E-segment market, which has grown in a biased manner," adding, "Along with Volvo's representative sport utility vehicle (SUV) XC90, customers will be able to experience new luxury through the flagship sedan, the new S90."
The new S90, introduced after a facelift four years since its domestic launch in 2016, is the top-tier model equipped with a design that modernly interprets the brand heritage, emotional quality reflecting a human-centered philosophy, and advanced technology. It features the largest body size in its class over 5 meters, a widened interior space, and an eco-friendly powertrain in line with the global electrification strategy.
In particular, it comes standard across all trims with Volvo's advanced IntelliSafe technology, as well as an advanced air purification function equipped with a PM 2.5 sensor that detects ultrafine dust and a particulate filter. The Inscription model adds a new Continuum cone, noise cancellation, and the UK's Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) premium audio system.
In Korea, following the global electrification strategy, it will be launched with a combination of a 250-horsepower 48-volt B5 mild hybrid or a 405-horsepower T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid paired with an 8-speed transmission.
