Restriction on High-Ranking Officials Owning One House, 'Support' 63.5% vs 'Oppose' 28.4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] More than six out of ten citizens were found to support the restriction on high-ranking public officials owning only one house.
According to Realmeter's survey conducted on the 29th at the request of tbs regarding the pros and cons of restricting high-ranking public officials to owning one house, 63.5% responded "support," while 28.4% responded "oppose," the results were announced on the 30th. The "don't know" response was 8.1%.
Support responses were higher than opposition responses in almost all regions. In particular, support responses exceeded 70% in Seoul (73.7%) and Gwangju·Jeolla (72.6%), showing a high rate. In Gyeonggi·Incheon (61.5%), Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong (59.5%), and Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (55.2%), the rates were similar to the overall average. In Daegu·Gyeongbuk, support for restricting high-ranking public officials to one house was also high at 60.6%, but the "don't know" response was 21.8%, higher than in other regions.
By age group, support responses were highest among those aged 70 and over at 77.3%. This was followed by those in their 60s (69.8%), 50s (67.0%), 40s (63.5%), and 20s (58.3%). Among those in their 30s, support was 48.3% and opposition was 41.4%, showing a close split on the ownership restriction.
By ideological tendency, support responses were high regardless of conservative, moderate, or progressive views. Among progressives, support was 71.1%, higher than the overall average, while moderates showed 65.7%, and conservatives 53.4%, with no significant differences by tendency.
By political party support, 77.3% of Democratic Party supporters favored restricting housing ownership for high-ranking public officials. Among the non-affiliated group, 49.5% supported and 35.2% opposed, with support slightly higher. Among United Future Party supporters, 51.1% supported and 43.5% opposed, showing a close split.

This survey contacted 8,989 adults nationwide aged 18 and over, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 5.7%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
