Chairman of Gimje City Council: "I don't believe the adultery of a fellow council member... Expelled due to bad public opinion"

On the 28th, the chairpersons of the Gimje City Council held a press conference and stated, "We sincerely apologize for causing an irreparable and great wound to the citizens due to the disgraceful incident between council members and for the repeated noise and discord during the process of organizing the council."

However, toward the end of the press conference, On Ju-hyun, chairperson of the Gimje City Council, made remarks that appeared to shield the person involved in the affair, saying, "(The female council member) still does not admit to the affair. Therefore, personally, I do not believe Councilor B had an affair."

When asked, "If she denies it, why was she expelled?" he responded, "Because the current public opinion from the media and citizens is (not favorable...)."

Earlier, on the 12th of last month, Councilor A (male, Democratic Party) of the Gimje City Council exposed that he was in an affair with fellow Councilor B (female, Democratic Party proportional representative).

Councilor A said, "Councilor B's side is portraying me not as a lover but as a one-sided stalker, so I am revealing the truth out of frustration," adding, "I have received love letters from Councilor B, including one saying 'I will love you even after death.'"

The two council members even had a verbal altercation in the main chamber of the Gimje City Council on the 1st, during the election of the council chairpersons.

Councilor A approached Councilor B and challenged, "Am I a stalker? Tell me," to which Councilor B retorted, "Then am I a gold digger?" causing a commotion.
