The World's Largest Electronics Show 'CES 2021' Held Online... First Time in 55 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The world's largest electronics exhibition, 'CES 2021,' originally scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, USA, in January next year, will be held online. This decision was made because offline events with large crowds are deemed impossible due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes CES, officially announced this fact through its website on the 28th (local time).
CTA stated, "Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, it is not possible to safely gather tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in 2021 to conduct business."
This is the first time in 55 years since CES began in New York, USA, in 1967, that the event will be held online.
CTA explained, "CES 2021 will safely share ideas and introduce products that will shape the future through digital means."
It plans to conduct presentations by global leaders and digital showcases of new products worldwide through online platforms.
