KOTRA Donates 10,000 COVID-19 Test Kit Sets in the Philippines
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] On the 28th, KOTRA Manila Trade Center announced that on the 27th, Korean company SD Biosensor, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines, delivered 10,000 sets of COVID-19 diagnostic kits to the Philippine Department of Health.
At the donation ceremony held in the lobby of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs building, 600,000 KF94 masks, 7 COVID-19 walk-through diagnostic booths, and 1,000 face shields were also delivered.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has exceeded 80,000, with deaths reaching 2,000. The quantity donated by SD Biosensor was 5,000 sets, enough to test over 300,000 people. This donation is expected to promote the excellence of K-quarantine in the Philippine market and enhance the national image.
Lee Hyogeun, CEO of SD Biosensor, said, "At the early stage of the pandemic, the role of diagnostic companies is very important," adding, "We have developed highly reliable point-of-care diagnostic test kits to respond to the COVID-19 crisis."
Ko Sanghoon, head of KOTRA Manila Trade Center, who supported logistics and customs clearance locally, said, "We have been receiving steady inquiries about Korean diagnostic kits," and added, "We will further promote our diagnostic kit products to help K-quarantine supplies enter the Philippine market more extensively."
