Gyeongsang National University Hosts the 22nd National Dance Competition

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The 22nd National Dance Competition, hosted by the National Gyeongsang University and organized by the Department of Folk Dance in the College of Humanities, will be held for two days from August 15 to 16 at the GNU Convention Center Auditorium of Gyeongsang National University.
The Department of Folk Dance at Gyeongsang National University is recruiting participants for this national dance competition until August 11. Eligibility requires a recommendation from the school principal or dance academy director (general division applicants can apply individually), and application forms can be downloaded and completed from the College of Humanities website of Gyeongsang National University.
Applications can be submitted online, by visit, or by mail. The participation fee is 100,000 KRW per person for the individual category and 120,000 KRW per team for the group category.
The individual participation categories are divided into middle school (lower grade and upper grade), high school (lower grade and upper grade), and general divisions. The competition events (performance duration) include solo dance (within 3 minutes) and group dance (within 5 minutes).
The group participation categories are divided into middle school and high school divisions. Participants can compete in Korean dance, modern dance, ballet, and practical dance. Practical dance consists of street dance (hip-hop, b-boying, waacking, locking, popping, urban, etc.) and non-street dance (jazz dance, K-pop dance, belly dance, dance sports, etc.).

Participants must comply with the organizer’s announcements regarding COVID-19 prevention measures such as “social distancing in daily life.” Entry to the venue is prohibited without wearing a mask, entry times are set according to participation category and grade, and stage practice on the day of the event is not allowed.
