'Dongbuk Line Urban Railway' Officially Begins Construction... Targeted Opening in 2025
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The Dongbuk Line urban railway, connecting Wangsimni and Sanggye in Seoul, has commenced construction with the goal of opening in 2025.
Dongbuk Line Urban Railway Co., Ltd., the private investor and operator of the Dongbuk Line project, announced on the 28th that various administrative procedures such as land compensation, traffic management measures, road occupancy and excavation permits, and relocation consultations for underground obstacles are underway. With the related permits expected to be completed soon, construction will begin first on sections where work is feasible.
For each section, Kumho Industrial is responsible for Section 1 starting from Wangsimni Station, Hoban Industrial for Section 2, Hyundai Engineering for Section 3, and Kolon Global for Section 4. In preparation for actual construction, each company has established on-site offices and deployed employees.
Preliminary work for excavation is actively underway, including tree removal within the construction zones. Soon, relocation work for various underground obstacles such as electrical and communication lines will commence. Once the relocation is completed and the subsequent structural excavation begins, the Dongbuk Line urban railway construction will enter its main phase.
