Kim Tae-nyeon "United Party, Clarify Your Position on Administrative Capital Relocation"
[Asia Economy Reporters Kang Nahum and Jeon Jinyoung] Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 28th called on the leadership of the United Future Party regarding the relocation of the administrative capital, saying, "I hope they clearly state their position."
At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Kim said, "It is disappointing to see the United Future Party leadership suppressing pro-relocation opinions within the party by even imposing a gag order."
Regarding Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the United Future Party, who argued that the relocation should be included as a pledge for the Seoul mayoral by-election in April next year, Kim Tae-nyeon criticized, "The worst kind of politics is dragging the nation's future into election disputes. It is typical calculated politics and political engineering that prioritizes party interests over the nation and the people's benefit."
He continued, "It should not be the role of the leader of the main opposition party to irresponsibly comment on the ruling party's proposal without alternatives," urging, "Political leaders are not critics. They should responsibly disclose their party's plans and alternatives."
Floor Leader Kim also expressed concern about real estate policy legislation, saying, "Due to the United Future Party's deliberate stalling, key bills are not even being discussed in the standing committees. The situation is particularly serious in the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the Strategy and Finance Committee, and the Judiciary Committee, which review real estate legislation."
