DAPA to Support Defense Industry Growth for 32 Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu]The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) is selecting 32 companies to foster the defense industry.
According to DAPA on the 28th, the selected companies include 11 in the field of domestic development support for core weapon system components, 13 in defense venture support, and 8 in global defense small and strong company development.
The domestic development support project for core weapon system components provides up to 10 billion KRW per project over a maximum of 5 years for localization of core parts. For the 11 newly selected projects this year, a total of 30 billion KRW will be invested over 5 years for the small and venture companies developing them.
The defense venture support project provides development costs per project for excellent private small and venture companies entering the defense industry, supporting up to 300 million KRW for 2 years or up to 2 billion KRW for 3 years depending on technical difficulty. The 13 newly selected lead companies will receive a total of 6.55 billion KRW over the next 2 years.

The global defense small and strong company development project selects domestic small and venture companies that can grow into global companies in the defense sector, supporting the entire process from product development to overseas market expansion. Up to 3 billion KRW per project will be invested over a maximum of 3 years, and the 8 companies selected this time will receive a total of 14.13 billion KRW over 3 years. Approximately 50.7 billion KRW will be invested in the 32 newly selected companies this time.
