SK Telecom announced on the 28th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CREDIA, the largest classical performance planning company in Korea, to promote 5G-based classical performance content in the untact era.
Through this agreement, SK Telecom plans to produce various classical performances planned by CREDIA as digital video content using its advanced IT technologies such as 5G and AI, and present them through the online video service (OTT) platform ‘wavve’ and SK Broadband’s IPTV service ‘Btv’. Starting as early as the third quarter, 3 to 5 classical performances will be introduced as 5G-based digital video content within the year.
The two companies intend to breathe new life into the classical performance market, which has been struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and further work together to expand the base of classical music. In the first half of this year, the performance industry’s sales plummeted by 85% compared to the same period last year, falling to 95.2 billion KRW due to the direct impact of COVID-19. SK Telecom plans to donate a portion of the profits from this collaboration to promote the classical music industry.
The upcoming digital videos will be composed of content that enriches untact performance viewing for classical music enthusiasts through advanced IT technologies, including ▲multi-view and multi-audio ▲multi-angle ▲close-up videos of main performers ▲commentary videos. ‘Multi-view’ and ‘multi-audio’ are contents on wavve that allow viewers to select the sound of specific instruments or performers during the performance, while ‘multi-angle’ enables viewing the performance from various angles.
Additionally, Btv is considering providing a package that includes ▲unedited performance videos ▲close-up videos of main performers ▲commentary videos and performer interviews in addition to existing performance videos.
