‘Songpa SSEM Village Instructor’ Officially Begins Activities
74 'Songpa Ssaem Village Instructors' Appointed to Lead Songpa Innovation Education District Together... Building and Operating a Community Education Network by Connecting Local Community, Schools, and Village for Student Education
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is officially launching an innovative education program in collaboration with ‘Songpa SSEM Village Instructors,’ who support student education through cooperation between schools and the community.
Accordingly, the appointment ceremony for the Songpa SSEM Village Instructors, which had been temporarily postponed due to strengthened quarantine measures following the COVID-19 cluster outbreak in the metropolitan area, will be held on July 27th at 4 PM.
The ‘Songpa SSEM 1st Generation Village Instructors’ appointed on this day consist of 74 individuals with experience or talents in four fields: ▲Character Psychology (sexual violence prevention, character education, anger management, etc.) ▲Future Technology (coding, VR, drones, YouTube, etc.) ▲Career Aptitude (cooking, career education, invention, etc.) ▲Culture and Arts (physical education, humanities, village guides, etc.).
Since last October, they have completed 30 hours of basic training (introductory courses) such as ‘Understanding the Village Education Community and Educational Field,’ and through more than 20 hours of research courses, they have acquired professional capabilities as innovative education district village instructors.
The appointed village instructors will actively participate in educational programs for children by conducting classes related to future technology and culture and arts, as well as counseling on character psychology and career aptitude, in connection with the local community and schools.
In response to the changing educational environment due to COVID-19, the district previously deployed ‘Songpa SSEM Village Instructors’ on-site, receiving great positive feedback. In March, six play-class videos were produced and supported as online educational content through the Songpa SSEM YouTube channel, and in April, they visited Geoye Elementary School’s emergency care classroom to conduct practical and experiential activity education.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Starting with the activities of the Songpa SSEM Village Instructors, I hope the village education community will become a driving force that helps our children happily design their future lives.” He added, “Going forward, the district plans to discover differentiated educational content unique to Songpa and foster creative talents together with the village instructors.”
