The AEO system is a standard adopted by the international community following the increased importance of trade security after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. Among companies involved in trade, those that meet financial soundness and safety management standards and achieve an evaluation score of 80 or higher on internal control systems are finally assessed for legal compliance, based on which customs authorities assign ratings.
