Dongjak-gu Provides Free Loan of Public Property and Goods to Vulnerable Groups
Free Loan of Public Property on Saturdays and Holidays for Vulnerable Groups Such as Basic Livelihood Security Recipients and Single-Parent Families... A Total of 2,285 Items of 47 Types from Daily Necessities to Disaster and Quarantine Supplies Provided Through Advance Reservation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) announced on the 23rd that starting this month, it will provide free loans of public property and goods to vulnerable groups within the district.
Until now, free loans of public property were limited to cases where the state, local governments, or public institutions directly used them for public purposes or targeted disaster and calamity victims.
In December last year, the district established Article 65-2 (Free Loan of Goods) in the Seoul Dongjak-gu Public Property and Goods Management Ordinance, expanding the scope of free loans of public property and goods to practice proactive administration and provide a basis for supporting socially vulnerable groups.
According to the revised ordinance, the items available for free loan include a total of 2,285 units across 47 types, ranging from daily and home appliances such as ▲13 electric fans ▲452 tools ▲170 folding, stool, and lounge chairs ▲25 digital cameras to sports and audio equipment such as ▲2 ping-pong tables ▲1 music accompaniment device ▲1 speaker, as well as disaster and quarantine supplies including ▲1,373 vacuum pumps ▲3 hand sanitizers.
The eligible recipients are beneficiaries under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, the near-poor class, and protected persons under the Single-Parent Family Support Act.
Residents wishing to apply can check the availability of needed items at the department where the items are stored, the community service center, or the district website, make a reservation in advance, and visit to receive the items.
The loan period is from 6 p.m. on Saturdays or the day before public holidays until 9 a.m. the day after the holiday.
In particular, the district provides direct delivery and collection services by vehicle for disabled persons or the elderly who have difficulty walking.
Since April, the district has reduced the loan rate for public property from 5% to a maximum of 1% for small business owners who suffered economic damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, revitalizing the local economy.
