Woojin to Supply In-Core Nuclear Instrumentation Worth 8 Billion KRW to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Woojin will supply key nuclear power plant measurement equipment to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
Woojin announced on the 23rd that it signed a supply contract worth 8 billion KRW for In-Core Instrumentation (ICI) with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
ICI detects neutrons that appear during the nuclear fission reaction process in the reactor. Since an increase in neutrons can cause the reactor to overheat, it is an essential device for the safe operation of the reactor.
Under this contract, Woojin will supply ICI to Hanbit Unit 3, Wolseong Unit 3, and Hanul Units 2 and 3.

A Woojin official explained, "ICI is a part that needs to be periodically replaced in operating nuclear power plants, and demand for replacements occurs annually regardless of the government's nuclear phase-out policy. With the completion of Shin-Kori Units 3 and 4 at the end of last year, the number of supply destinations has increased. Furthermore, as Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Units 2, 3, and 4 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6 under construction are completed, the ICI market is expected to grow even larger."
