Samik Food Processing Co., Ltd. Breaks Ground on Iksan Plant as a Stepping Stone for Overseas Expansion

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Samik Dairy Processing Co., Ltd., a probiotics manufacturing company, will establish its Iksan factory within the National Food Cluster complex located in Wanggung-myeon, Iksan, Jeonbuk.
According to the city on the 22nd, the groundbreaking ceremony for Samik Dairy Processing Co., Ltd.'s Iksan factory was attended by Jeong Heon-yul, Mayor of Iksan; Choi Yong-beom, Vice Governor of Jeonbuk Province; Yoon Tae-jin, Chairman of the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency; Lee Bom-i, CEO of Samik Dairy Processing Co., Ltd.; and about 60 executives and employees.
Samik Dairy Processing, which acquired a 14,139㎡ (4,276 pyeong) site within the National Food Cluster in May, has started construction with an investment of 13 billion KRW aiming for completion within the second half of the year, and plans to employ about 20 workers.
Samik Dairy Processing is a powder manufacturing specialist company that produced whey powder for the first time in Korea and supplies to mid-sized companies such as Ottogi.
Additionally, based on accumulated know-how in lactic acid bacteria production, the company is expanding its business area from dairy processing to food and bio sectors by producing a probiotics product called ‘BioticTok’ through research and development.
Accordingly, Samik Dairy Processing plans to use the establishment of the Iksan factory as a foothold not only for the domestic market but also for overseas expansion.
