[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will operate the "Gangdong Smart College Admission Briefing, Wise College Life" through the Gangdong-gu Office YouTube channel for three weeks from July 23 to August 8.
As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continues, the environment for obtaining college admission information has rapidly diminished due to changes in academic schedules, shifts in admission timelines, and cancellations of offline admission programs, increasing anxiety among examinees and parents.
In response, Gangdong-gu, the first local government nationwide equipped with a 3D virtual remote system, has prepared the "Gangdong Smart College Admission Briefing, Wise College Life," which comprehensively provides admission information ranging from understanding last year's admission results to this year's admission strategies, as well as how to prepare self-introduction letters and interview screenings.
This admission briefing will be held for three weeks from July 23 to August 8 through the Gangdong-gu Office YouTube channel. The main lectures will be broadcast every Thursday, with replays of the week's lectures on Saturdays, airing each of the three lectures twice. Viewing hours are from 2 PM to 10 PM, ensuring the learning rights of students and parents who may miss lectures due to online classes or work.
The first lecture on July 23 at 2 PM will be "Trends in Early Admission Applications and Understanding Admission Results for the 2020 Academic Year" by Oh Soo-seok from the Korea Council for University Education. Following that, on July 30 at 2 PM, Lim Byung-hoon from the University Education Council will lecture on "Key Checks for Major University Early Admissions for the 2021 Academic Year," and on August 6 at 2 PM, Choi Seung-hoo from the National College Admission Teachers Association will present "How to Prepare Self-Introduction Letters and Interviews for the 2021 Academic Year."
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "In the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, we have prepared this admission briefing to provide examinees and parents with systematic admission information in a safe environment. Since this is an opportunity where representative public education lecturers from the National College Admission Teachers Association and the Korea Council for University Education comprehensively explain admission information, I hope it will be practically helpful to examinees."
