Gyeonggi-do Prepares 'Infection Prevention Management Measures' for Public Restrooms During Vacation Season
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has prepared and will implement the "Public Restroom Infection Prevention Management Plan" until the 31st of next month to prevent infectious diseases and safety accidents during the summer vacation season.
The target includes about 2,000 public restrooms at beaches, tourist sites, and transportation facilities within the province.
The main contents are ▲ infectious disease prevention measures ▲ hygiene, cleanliness, and cleaning management ▲ convenience improvement through expansion of temporary restrooms.
As part of the infectious disease prevention management plan, surfaces of facilities frequently touched or highly used, such as door handles, switches, toilet covers and lids, and flush buttons, will be disinfected at least once daily.
Also, places where natural ventilation is possible will keep windows open at all times, and places where windows cannot be opened will be ventilated at least twice daily.
For hygiene, cleanliness, and cleaning management, to prevent odors and environmental pollution, trash bins and sanitary supplies will be collected frequently so that garbage is not left unattended for long periods, maintaining a clean restroom environment.
For restrooms installed in flood-prone areas and temporary restrooms, separate measures such as maintenance of surrounding drainage channels and installation of flood prevention facilities will be implemented to prevent sewage leakage.
Eleven additional temporary restrooms, including simple and portable restrooms, will be installed in areas lacking public restrooms. Simple restrooms are small-scale restrooms used in areas where installing public restrooms is difficult, and portable restrooms are installed temporarily for events where many people gather.
The province previously requested each city and county to mark 2-meter spacing lines at entrances and washbasin floors in spacious public restrooms for social distancing and to install entrance barriers.
