Min&Z "BioEleven Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Excellent Corporate Research Institute Development Project"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Min&Gee announced on the 21st that the corporate research institute of its subsidiary, Bioeleven, a probiotics specialized company, has been selected as a supported company for the "Excellent Enterprise Research Institute Development Project (hereinafter ATC+)" hosted by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Bioeleven's corporate research institute recently attended the '2020 ATC+ Designation Certificate Award Ceremony' held at EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, where it received the designation certificate and plaque. Newly selected for ATC+, Bioeleven's corporate research institute will receive a total of 2 billion KRW in research and development funding over the next four years.
‘ATC+ (Advanced Technology Center Plus)’ is a follow-up project to the ‘Excellent Technology Research Center Project (ATC)’, which supported 518 corporate research institutes from 2003 to 2018 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is a project that selects corporate research institutes with innovative research capabilities and provides focused support to strengthen their R&D capabilities.
Based on ATC+ support, Bioeleven's corporate research institute plans to develop and commercialize customized probiotic formulations that help improve obesity by reflecting individual gut microbiota characteristics according to microbiome analysis results.
To this end, the institute will conduct joint research with Konkuk University’s Functional Metabolomics Laboratory, specializing in strain and biological sample metabolite analysis, and the Experimental Animal Center of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation, specializing in animal efficacy evaluation.
Kim Seok-jin, head of Bioeleven's corporate research institute, said, “We will introduce Korea’s first customized obesity improvement probiotic product optimized for individual gut environments, overcoming the limitations of existing mass-market probiotic products consumed uniformly by all customers. Through this, we aim to become an innovative research institute leading the high value-added microbiome field.”
