Choi Mugyeong, Jeonnam Provincial Councilor, Conducts On-Site Inspection of Yulchon Industrial Complex and Yeosu Fire Station
Rep. Choi: "We will sequentially inspect major SOC project sites and disaster safety vulnerable areas in the province"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Choi Mugyeong, Chair of the Safety, Construction, and Firefighting Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, announced on the 20th that he inspected the site management status by visiting the entrance road to Yulchon 2 Industrial Complex, the construction sites of Yulchon 2 and 3 Industrial Complex development projects, and the Yeosu Fire Station.
This on-site inspection was conducted in a sequence where officials from Jeonnam Province and the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority, along with construction company representatives, attended to receive reports on the progress of the construction, toured the sites, and reviewed safety measures and future plans.
Chairman Choi said, “Since more than 1 trillion won of a massive budget is being invested in the Yulchon 2 and 3 Industrial Complex development projects, it is a natural duty to see with my own eyes and verify on the ground whether the budget is being allocated appropriately and whether there are any issues in project implementation.” He added, “We will continuously monitor the matters inspected today to ensure there are no obstacles to the prompt and smooth progress of the projects.”
Upon completion of the Yulchon 2 and 3 Industrial Complex development projects, a marine industrial complex totaling 22.75 million square meters (6.88 million pyeong) will be established in connection with the adjacent Yulchon 1 Industrial Complex, and it is expected to play a pivotal role in the domestic southern central production hub industrial belt alongside Gwangyang Steelworks and Yeosu National Industrial Complex.
He then visited the Yeosu Fire Station to inspect rescue and emergency medical equipment and facilities, encouraging the dedication of firefighting officials who serve on the front lines for the lives and safety of the residents.
Chairman Choi urged, “Since Yeosu City, where industrial complexes are densely located, has a high risk of large-scale disasters such as chemical accidents, please strengthen the organic cooperation system with related agencies to prevent accidents in advance and maintain a state of readiness to respond swiftly in rescue and emergency situations.”
