[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council recently announced on the 20th that it has formed a subcommittee (Chairman Kim Jeonghee) to listen to opinions and understand the progress of the case regarding the student death incident that occurred in Yeonggwang, and has begun on-site activities.
The parents of the student who died in Yeonggwang expressed their grievances about the school's inadequate response and other issues during a meeting with the Education Committee on the 15th.
Accordingly, the Education Committee recognized the seriousness of the incident and urgently formed a subcommittee, deciding to conduct an on-site visit to ensure the case is thoroughly investigated.
This incident involves a middle school student in the Yeonggwang area who was continuously sexually harassed, reported the facts to the school requesting measures, but after hearing that the perpetrator student would return to school, the victim died of acute pancreatitis.
