At the National Assembly confirmation hearing that day, in response to Future United Party lawmaker Park Wan-su's question that the investigation into former Mayor Oh was lax while the case involving former Ulsan Mayor Kim Ki-hyun proceeded swiftly, Kim replied, "I am not in a position related to the Ulsan mayor investigation, so it is difficult to speak precisely," and added the above.
Kim is the head of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, the chief responsible for the investigation into former Mayor Oh. Kim said he learned of Oh's "sexual harassment allegations through a press conference (April 23) and was completely unaware before the general election (April 15)," adding, "It happened in a very private space, so very few people knew."

Regarding the criticism from lawmaker Park Soo-young of the same party that the investigation into former Mayor Oh is sluggish compared to the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's case, Kim responded, "The Park case began with a direct complaint from the accuser, but the Oh case was recognized through a one-sided press conference, so it is true that collecting related evidence such as victim statements took a lot of time."
