Daewoo E&C Wins Urban Railway Construction Contract Worth 270 Billion KRW in Singapore
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Daewoo E&C has secured an urban railway construction project worth approximately 270 billion KRW in Singapore.
Daewoo E&C announced on the 20th that it won a $239 million (about 277 billion KRW) urban railway construction contract in the Jurong area of western Singapore.
This project, commissioned by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, is part of a 24 km Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line connecting key hubs in the Jurong area with the North-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL). It involves constructing three above-ground stations and a 3.6 km viaduct.
Daewoo E&C will hold a 60% stake and local construction company Yongnam E&C will hold 40% in the design and construction. Construction is scheduled to begin this month.

A Daewoo E&C official stated, "Since winning the Thomson Line project in 2014, we have secured a civil engineering project in Singapore for the first time in six years. We recognized that technical evaluation is crucial in Singapore project bids, so we proposed the safest and most efficient construction methods to overcome difficult conditions such as highway crossings."
