Doosan Infracore Surpasses 10,000 Excavator Sales in China... Largest in 9 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Doosan Infracore recorded sales of 10,000 excavators in the Chinese market in the first half of this year. Doosan Infracore has expanded sales by launching a new wheel excavator.
Doosan Infracore announced on the 20th that it sold 10,728 excavators in China from January to June. This is the highest figure in nine years since selling about 12,000 units in the first half of 2011.
This figure is more than 10% higher than the 9,707 units sold during the same period last year. Monthly sales in June recorded 1,320 units, an increase of about 23% compared to the same period last year.
In line with the favorable Chinese market, Doosan Infracore recently launched the new 6-ton class wheel excavator (DX60W ECO). Wheel (wheeled) excavators have better mobility than crawler (tracked) excavators, making them more suitable for urban area work. The wheel excavator introduced this time is a product tailored for the Chinese market, enhancing price competitiveness.
It features a high-efficiency hydraulic control system that enables smooth and precise equipment operation while improving fuel efficiency. It allows quick work transitions under various conditions such as earth excavation, surface leveling, and heavy load movement, and its structure and parts design have been improved for excellent durability and maintenance convenience.
A representative of Doosan Infracore's China branch said, "The new wheel excavator is evaluated to be superior in performance, convenience, and fuel efficiency compared to competing models in the same class," adding, "We will expand our market presence by promoting sales through online marketing including WeChat."
The Chinese excavator market experienced a slump during the first two months of the year due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), but quickly recovered afterward. The total market size in the first half of this year was about 155,000 units, surpassing the record high of about 125,000 units sold in the first half of last year.
