On the 17th, Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and the Child Meal Management Support Center Signed a Consignment Agreement... Expectation for Safe Food Provision and Childcare Environment Improvement through Systematic Hygiene and Nutrition Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) signed a consignment agreement on the 17th with Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Director Ban Hyo-kyung) for the Yeongdeungpo-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center to provide healthy meals for children.
The signing ceremony held in the communication room on the 3rd floor of the district office main building was attended by Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Chae Hyun-il, Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Deputy Director Bae Hyun-ah, and Professor Kim Yuri, who will serve as the center director.
The Children's Meal Management Support Center is a public institution responsible for meal hygiene and nutrition management, including ▲development of age-specific customized recipes ▲hygiene and nutrition education for cooks and directors, targeting daycare centers with fewer than 100 children where hiring a nutritionist is not mandatory.
Due to the nature of the institution's work, specialized knowledge of children's nutrition and hygiene is required. Therefore, most centers entrust their operation to universities with departments of food and nutrition or nutritionist associations.
The district announced a call for consignment institutions in May and, after a selection review in June, finally selected Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation as the consignment institution.
Leveraging the excellent personnel and rich experience of Ewha Womans University, a prestigious private university with a 135-year tradition, the district expects to greatly contribute to improving the quality of local daycare center operations and promoting children's health by providing safe and healthy food.
The district is preparing to construct the Yeongdeungpo-gu Children's Meal Management Support Center at 94-2 Yeongdeungpo-dong 1-ga in August and plans to complete and start operations by September. The center will be a 161㎡ space equipped with ▲office ▲cooking education room ▲children's play area ▲small meeting room.
The completed facility will systematically manage meal hygiene and nutrition for daycare centers and kindergartens with fewer than 100 children in the region under the operation of Ewha Womans University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation.
