Compilation of Gyeonggi Province History Gains Momentum... Appointment of Compilation Committee Members
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has resumed the compilation of the "Gyeonggi Province History" (Gyeonggidosa), which had been suspended since 2009, and recently appointed members of the History Compilation Committee.
The committee members will deliberate on ▲ the basic direction of the Gyeonggidosa compilation ▲ the compilation and collection/investigation of materials for the Gyeonggidosa ▲ the collection, organization, and preservation of materials in various fields of provincial administration ▲ and matters related to the inheritance and development of Gyeonggi culture.
The term of office is three years, with one possible renewal.
Since 1955, the province published the "Gyeonggidoji (Volume 1)" as the first in the nation, and up to 2009, it published a total of 14 volumes of the provincial history in three phases.
Last October, the province decided to newly compile the Gyeonggidosa to establish Gyeonggi Province's identity, and in March of this year, enacted the ordinance for the Gyeonggidosa Compilation Committee. Subsequently, in May, a task force (TF) was formed to establish the Gyeonggidosa Compilation Planning Group, and last month, an expert forum was held for the new compilation of the Gyeonggidosa. Preparatory work is underway for the establishment of the Gyeonggidosa Compilation Promotion Group scheduled for October.
