Gwanak-gu Intensifies Disinfection at 121 Multi-Use Facilities Including Parks and Bus Stops
Secured Approximately 2.5 Billion KRW from National, City, and District Budgets to Hire 215 Workers for COVID-19 Response, Livelihood Stability, and Jobs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is promoting intensive disinfection in 121 parks within the district to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
As COVID-19 continues to spread mainly in the metropolitan area, intensive disinfection is being carried out on multi-use facilities such as rest areas and exercise facilities in parks frequently used by residents to alleviate residents' anxiety and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
The disinfection work is being conducted in a total of 121 locations, including Gwanaksan Park, children's parks, and village squares. Every day, 76 workers carry out sterilization and ozone disinfection on park facilities that involve direct contact, such as ▲rest areas ▲benches ▲children's playground equipment ▲sports facilities ▲sand pits ▲restrooms.
Additionally, hand sanitizers have been installed in exercise facilities and rest areas for residents' personal hygiene, and 174 banners promoting social distancing guidelines have been posted at park entrances, major facilities, and hiking trails.
Along with this, as part of the district's measures to stabilize residents' lives amid COVID-19, about 130 temporary workers in the park and green space sector have been hired with a budget of approximately 1.5 billion won through a supplementary budget for job projects in May.
In August, to further stabilize citizens' lives, about 1 billion won in national and city funds has been secured, and an additional 85 workers in the park and green space sector will be hired through the Hope Job Green New Deal project.
The district has also installed about 170 hand sanitizers at 100 bus stops and 43 shade shelters. Two hand sanitizers are provided at bus stops with high passenger volume and medium or larger bus boarding areas, and one sanitizer each at small bus stops and shade shelters.
Until the end of COVID-19, local community centers will conduct regular patrols and inspections and replenish hand sanitizers when they run out.
