Gwangju City Files Complaints Against 3 Churches for Violating COVID-19 Quarantine Rules During Sunday Worship
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] On the 19th, Gwangju City announced that three churches, one each in Nam-gu, Buk-gu, and Gwangsan-gu, violated quarantine rules by holding on-site worship services and plans to report them to the police.
These churches held worship services with more than 50 people gathered indoors, violating the social distancing level 2 measures that prohibit indoor events with over 50 participants. However, they complied with quarantine rules such as wearing masks, temperature checks, maintaining distance, and keeping entry logs.
On that day, out of 1,492 churches in Gwangju, 404 churches (36.5%) replaced services with online worship or canceled services entirely.
