Gwangju City to Hold the 8th Human Rights Art Contest Starting from the 20th
Until September 30... Two Categories: Creative Writing such as Poems and Essays, and Graphics including Drawings and Photos
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 19th that it will hold the "8th Human Rights Works Contest" starting from the 20th to promote a human rights-friendly culture and raise awareness of human rights.
Since its first event in 2013, this year's 8th contest focuses on the Gwangju Human Rights Charter, reflecting on cases of human rights violations and discrimination in our society and daily life, and the image of a community living together without discrimination.
The contest categories are ▲ creative writing such as poems, articles, and essays ▲ and graphic works including paintings and photographs.
There are no regional restrictions, and individuals or groups of up to three people interested in human rights, including elementary, middle, and high school students, university students, the general public, and foreign residents, can participate. Entries depicting experiences from daily life as human rights works should be submitted via email to the city's Democracy and Human Rights Division by September 30.
Detailed information is available on the city’s website under public notices (search for human rights works) and the Democracy and Human Rights Portal. For further inquiries, contact the city's Democracy and Human Rights Division.
Submitted works will be evaluated by a judging panel composed of experts in human rights and each contest category, based on criteria such as human rights orientation, creativity, and potential for use in human rights education and promotion. A total of 16 works will be selected, including 2 grand prizes, 4 excellence awards, and 10 encouragement awards. Winners will receive mayoral commendations and prize money totaling 5 million KRW.
