Daegu Reports First COVID-19 Death in Over a Month... Regional Total Reaches 186

This is the first COVID-19 death in Daegu in 36 days since the 11th of last month. With this, the cumulative number of deaths in the Daegu area has increased to 186.
According to Daegu City on the 17th, the 58-year-old man who was receiving treatment at Kyungpook National University Hospital died at around 2:30 a.m. on that day. This man, who was hospitalized at the 2nd Miju Hospital in February, underwent a full inspection on March 26 and was confirmed positive the next day (nationwide case number 9383).
He had been receiving treatment at Daegu Medical Center and Daegu Catholic University Hospital, but his symptoms worsened and he was transferred to Kyungpook National University Hospital on May 19. He had underlying conditions including alcohol dependence, lung cancer, and diabetes.

Meanwhile, as of midnight on the 17th, the number of confirmed cases in the Daegu area remains the same as the previous day at 6,929, and the number of recovered patients is 6,817 (97.1%). There have been no infections through community transmission for 14 consecutive days since the 4th.
