Daejeon Special Judicial Police Conduct Intensive Crackdown on Substandard Livestock Products in Summer
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City Special Judicial Police announced on the 17th that they will conduct an intensive crackdown for two months starting from the 20th of this month on the packaging, processing, distribution, and sales processes of livestock products handled by businesses within the jurisdiction.
The crackdown targets businesses handling livestock products such as chicken, duck, beef, and pork, whose consumption increases during the summer vacation season, with a focus on preventing spoiled or deteriorated livestock products from being sold to consumers.
The main crackdown items include ▲ unauthorized manufacturing and processing of livestock products ▲ violations of livestock product standards and specifications ▲ failure to display required information ▲ distribution and sales of frozen meat as refrigerated meat, among others.
If violations are detected during the crackdown, the responsible persons of the respective businesses may face imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine of up to 100 million won.
