19 Cases of Group Infection Among 3 Russian Ships Arriving at Busan Port
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Nineteen confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported among crew members on three Russian vessels that docked at Busan Port.
According to the Busan National Quarantine Station on the 16th, among the 29 crew members of the Russian-flagged deep-sea fishing vessel REGUL (825t), which docked at Gamcheon Port last month and was moved to a shipyard in Yeongdo, 17 tested positive for COVID-19.
Following the initial confirmation of three positive cases among seven crew members who had applied to disembark, diagnostic tests were conducted on the remaining 22 crew members, resulting in 14 additional positive cases.
The quarantine authorities plan to transfer the 14 confirmed crew members to Busan Medical Center, a specialized infectious disease hospital in Busan, for treatment.
In addition to the REGUL, two other Russian vessels reported two confirmed cases among their crew, bringing the total number of confirmed cases on that day to 19.
