Gyeongsan City Council 'Chairman's Office' Police Search and Seizure... Suspicion of 'Money Envelope Distribution'

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 16th, the Gyeongsan Police Station in Gyeongbuk conducted a search and seizure of the office of City Council Chairman Lee Gi-dong, who is suspected of distributing money envelopes during the election process for the second half of the 8th Gyeongsan City Council.
The police reportedly confiscated Chairman Lee’s mobile phone and other items during the approximately 30-minute search that morning. A summons and investigation of Chairman Lee are expected to follow soon.
Earlier, on the 3rd, Councilor A raised suspicions, stating, "Lee Gi-dong, then a city councilor, distributed money envelopes ahead of the chairman election." The police conducted a witness investigation of the informant on the 13th.
Chairman Lee denies these allegations, stating, "I met Councilor A to ask for support, but I never handed over any money envelopes."
