Bodyfriend Achieves Record Q2 Performance with Sales of 152.4 Billion KRW, Up 14% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Bodyfriend (CEO Park Sang-hyun) announced on the 15th that, according to internal aggregation results, it achieved record-breaking sales of 152.4 billion KRW in the second quarter. This figure represents a 14.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Bodyfriend also recorded sales of 43.8 billion KRW in June, including the rental and sale of 10,653 massage chairs, marking the highest performance since the company's founding as of June.
Despite the sluggish economic conditions following the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase in time spent at home and heightened interest in health from mid-April appear to have driven the sales growth. Bodyfriend explained that consumers confirmed the health benefits of massage chairs, which have been proven through clinical trials and developed through healthcare technologies accumulated by research organizations including the Medical R&D Center, leading to actual purchases.
In fact, Bodyfriend has invested 52.8 billion KRW in massage chair research and development over the past five years, focusing on R&D. Since June, Bodyfriend's first 'Medical Chair' and a medical device certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the treatment of cervical disc and stenosis, the 'Phantom Medical,' has also been creating a sensation. Even before full-scale marketing and sales activities, sales performance has reportedly exceeded expectations.
