Andong-si Resumes Senior Centers Operation ... Utilized as Heat Relief Shelters
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Andong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 15th that it will resume operations of 530 senior centers in the area, which have been closed due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), starting from the 20th.
However, the usage hours will be limited from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the centers will be used as summer heat shelters for the elderly.
The local senior centers have been closed since February 21 as an extraordinary measure to prevent mass infection of COVID-19. However, Andong City explained that the resumption of operations was necessary due to increased feelings of depression and isolation caused by the lack of communication among the elderly, as well as the need for heat shelters during the hot summer.
