Attempt to Conceal Illegal Filming Crimes in Schools 'Must Be Strictly Punished!'
'Wrong Responses to Crime Also Instill Misconceptions in Students'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 13th, the nonprofit organization 'Youth Coexistence Forum' issued a statement demanding strict punishment for school officials who attempted to conceal the occurrence of sexual crimes related to a series of illegal filming sexual crime incidents at schools in the Gyeongnam region.
Last weekend in Changwon, a middle school student was caught by the police for illegally filming twice in an elementary school girls' restroom.
The school violated the Ministry of Education's sexual crime-related guidelines, which require reporting to higher authorities within 24 hours after the occurrence of a sexual crime, and attempted to conceal the incident.
The statement pointed out, "If institutions respond poorly to crimes that occur at schools and treat them lightly, students may develop a distorted perception of sexual crimes."
