Busan Port Authority Selected as Support Target for Excellent Import and Export Safety Management Companies
Evaluation of Trade-Related Companies Including Export-Import, Transportation, and Warehousing Businesses
Compliance with Regulations, Safety Management, and Financial Soundness Review
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on the 14th that it has selected three companies as support targets for the ‘Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Certification Acquisition Support Project,’ which was open for applications last month to strengthen the global competitiveness of small and medium-sized export-import and logistics companies at Busan Port.
AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) is a designation certified by the Korea Customs Service as an ‘Authorized Economic Operator for Export-Import Safety Management.’ Every year, the Korea Customs Service evaluates trade-related companies such as export-import businesses, transportation companies, and warehouse operators based on compliance with laws and regulations, safety management levels, and financial soundness to certify outstanding companies.
The AEO Certification Acquisition Support Project is a program that provides systematic consulting throughout the entire process, from the preparation stage to the certification review stage, for small and medium-sized logistics companies at Busan Port aiming to acquire AEO certification. The application period was from June 24 to July 7.
A total of five companies applied, and the Busan Port Authority, in cooperation with the Busan Main Customs and the Korea Customs Trade Development Institute, conducted the evaluation and selection process of the applicants, ultimately finalizing three companies.
The selected companies will receive customized consulting through the Korea Customs Trade Development Institute from August until February next year, and from March to September next year, they will receive support for the entire process of applying for and undergoing the AEO certification review.
