Usage at 9,000 ZeroPay Merchants Worth 6.5 Billion Won on the 17th at 10 AM
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will issue the third round of the local currency ‘Songpa Sarang Gift Certificate,’ which has gained great popularity among residents due to its various uses, on the 17th.
The district will additionally issue Songpa Sarang Gift Certificates worth 6.5 billion KRW at 10 a.m. on the 17th. Following the enthusiastic response from residents during the first and second sales in April and May, which sold out quickly, the third issuance is being prepared.
This third issuance will apply a 7% discount rate. The monthly purchase limit per person is 1 million KRW until the 31st, and will be lowered to 700,000 KRW starting August 1.
Since many residents have been waiting for the third issuance, the district recommends purchasing promptly as early sell-out is expected.
Gift certificates can be purchased through smartphone simple payment apps (a total of 13 apps including Beeple Zero Pay, Check Pay, Money Tree, etc.) after identity verification and registering a payment account.
The usage method is the same as Zero Pay. Users can scan the QR code of Zero Pay affiliated stores through the simple payment app, enter the payment amount, and make the payment, or present the QR code generated on the smartphone to the store, where it can be scanned by the store’s reader for payment.
Songpa Sarang Gift Certificates can be used at about 9,000 Zero Pay affiliated stores within the district, including academies, restaurants, pharmacies, and convenience stores. In accordance with the purpose of the gift certificates to increase sales for small business owners, they cannot be used at large franchises such as Lotte Mart, E-Mart, Daiso, or in luxury and entertainment industries. The list of affiliated stores can be checked on the Zero Pay website.
The gift certificates are issued in three denominations: 10,000 KRW, 50,000 KRW, and 100,000 KRW. Full refunds are possible within 7 days of purchase, but after that, refunds are only available for the remaining balance if more than 80% has been used.
