The two companies announced on the 13th that they signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation for Establishing Next-Generation Korean-Style Combined Power Plants."
The signing ceremony was attended by about 30 officials, including Kim Byung-sook, President of Korea Western Power, and Jung Yeon-in, President of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
The two companies will develop a high-efficiency, large-capacity Korean-style combined cycle power plant with a combined efficiency of over 63% and jointly explore overseas markets.
They will cooperate to support technology development of domestic small and medium-sized gas turbine-related companies and secure domestic and international sales channels.
President Kim said, "Through the beautiful partnership between the two companies for gas combined cycle technology independence, we will accelerate the development of the domestic gas turbine industry and expand the production of clean energy sources."
President Jung said, "The determination of Korea Western Power to foster the domestic gas turbine industry and the efforts of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will produce more tangible results through this agreement."
Last month, Korea Western Power signed a contract with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction for the main equipment and construction of the Korean-style combined cycle demonstration plant, Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant, which applied domestically developed gas turbines for the first time as a national project.
The operational and technical information acquired through the power plant, scheduled to be completed in June 2023, will be provided to Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
