"AI and Autonomous Driving Specialized City Development" Naver Labs and Seongnam City Join Hands
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Labs and Seongnam City are collaborating to develop Seongnam as a specialized city for artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous driving demonstrations, and to revitalize the industrial ecosystem.
On the 13th, Naver Labs and Seongnam City held a business agreement ceremony focused on mutual cooperation for the development of the AI and autonomous driving industries.
Through this agreement, Seongnam City will cooperate in the road-driving demonstration of Naver Labs' outdoor autonomous driving robot platform project called 'ALT.' 'ALT' is a project to develop an unmanned autonomous driving robot platform on roads that can be customized in various ways such as unmanned delivery and unmanned shops according to user purposes.
Naver Labs will support the development of Seongnam's autonomous driving industry by providing 3D modeling and high-definition maps (HD maps) of the Pangyo area to the city.
In the long term, Naver Labs and Seongnam City plan to mutually cooperate on improving regulations related to high-precision maps for the development and research dissemination of fully autonomous driving technology.
Eun Su-mi, Mayor of Seongnam City, said, "As a leading city for autonomous vehicles, we will lead innovation in South Korea," adding, "This is part of the Asia Silicon Valley Seongnam project."

Seok Sang-ok, CEO of Naver Labs, stated, "Through this cooperation with Seongnam City, we will be able to introduce autonomous driving robot services that naturally connect the indoor and outdoor areas of Naver's second headquarters," and added, "We will strive to rapidly advance domestic AI, autonomous driving, and robot technologies through organic cooperation with Seongnam City."
