Jangsu-gun Holds Situation Meeting to "Minimize Damage" in Preparation for Heavy Rainfall
Damage such as Road Washout and Soil Erosion
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] Amid heavy concentrated rains during the monsoon season in Jeonbuk, Jangsu-gun announced on the 13th that it held a situation assessment meeting to prevent damage to farms, facilities, and human lives, and conducted on-site inspections.
According to the county, 50.2mm of rainfall was recorded on the 12th, and as of 11 a.m. on the 13th, 109.1mm of rain had fallen.
Due to this heavy rain, various damages such as road washouts and soil erosion occurred in the areas of Beonam-myeon and Sanseo-myeon in Jangsu-gun.
Accordingly, the county prioritized the restoration of damaged roads and, anticipating an additional 30 to 80mm of rain until the 14th, inspected vulnerable areas such as construction sites and riverside parking lots, as well as disaster warning facilities.
Currently, the county is operating a disaster safety countermeasures headquarters in preparation for heavy rain and is conducting emergency duty to prevent damage and prepare for emergency recovery.

A county official stated, “The ground has been weakened by the rainfall, so damage to lives and property is expected,” adding, “We will actively promote safety by frequently providing village broadcasts and disaster text messages to ensure that not a single life is lost.”
