Guro-gu Cuts Over 6 Billion Won in Event Expenses to Support COVID-19 Recovery
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is cutting more than 6 billion won from event-related expenses to use as support funds for overcoming COVID-19.
Guro-gu announced that due to the cancellation of various events caused by COVID-19, it is reducing event-related and consumable expenses by more than 6 billion won and using the funds as support for residents affected by the pandemic.
In March and June, Guro-gu prepared supplementary budgets by allocating disaster and emergency contingency funds, as well as general contingency funds and disaster management funds, to prepare for the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
To secure the budget, the district utilized last year's net surplus and implemented supplementary budget cuts totaling more than 6 billion won, including event-related and consumable expenses and project costs that could not be executed within the year, to raise additional resources.
A Guro-gu official stated, "Through the supplementary budget cuts, we continue efforts to share the pain with the local community and maintain fiscal soundness," adding, "We will use the disaster and emergency contingency funds secured during the supplementary budget to ensure the smooth implementation of the government's third supplementary budget projects."
