On the 8th (local time), French media Midi Libre reported that around 11:30 p.m. on the 7th, a 29-year-old Korean man was assaulted by several local teenagers in the city center of Montpellier, near the Palais des Congr?s, and was seriously injured after being stabbed twice in the back of his thigh.
According to the report, the teenagers made racially discriminatory gestures toward the Korean international student, who was walking with two friends, by insulting him for being Asian and pulling the skin around both of his eyes with their fingers.
The Korean student demanded an apology, but instead was punched and kicked, and then stabbed twice in the back of the thigh with a weapon.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics and is reported to be seriously injured.
The French police stated that they have arrested and are investigating three Albanian teenagers near the scene of the incident.
